About
Amelia Laughlin trained in ballet and contemporary dance from an early age in San Francisco, California. She further developed her artistry in the scope of improvisation and choreography. She performed repertory from choreographers and companies including Robert Battle, Hofesh Shechter, Chunky Move, Batsheva, Alvin Ailey, Jiri Kylian, Cunningham and Forsythe. Her favorite contemporary techniques included gaga, countertechnique and contact improvisation.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and minor in Digital Arts from California Institute of the Arts in 2017. In Los Angeles, she worked as a freelance dancer and editor of dance films until she discovered a passion for aerial arts in 2019, immersing herself in the world of circus and never looking back. She performed at VIVA Fest in Las Vegas in 2022. Shortly before moving to London to attend the National Centre for Circus Arts, where she specializes in aerial hoop.
